A Good Man Is So Hard To Find
By Dixie Jane Baker
When you’re searching for love there are fish in the sea,
Watch for those that come ready with a line,
There are some young and old, there are some mighty bold,
Cause a good man is so hard to find.
There are those you will catch they’re all smoke and no fire,
There are some that are best left behind,
They’re a stairway to heaven or a highway to hell,
Cause a good man is so hard to find.
There’s a love in your heart, wasn’t put there to stay,
And that love isn’t love ‘til you give it away,
Give your loving to someone who’s worth it and kind,
Cause a good man is so hard to find.
Have a date maybe two; have a drink maybe three,
If you’re both having fun that is nice,
Check your hook, line, and sinker, make sure that it’s real,
If it’s not, toss him back don’t think twice.
There’s a love in your heart wasn’t put there to stay,
And that love isn’t love ‘til you give it away,
Give your loving to someone who’s worth it and kind,
Cause a good man is so hard to find.
Oh yes, a good man is so hard to find.
Do We Mean What We Say
by Dixie Jane Baker
Did you mean what you said that it’s over,
When you left and you walked out the door.
Do you say what you mean, do you mean what you say,
For we’ve been down this road once before.
Sometimes words build a fire fanned with anger, Burning bridges that led to the heart.
And the damage that’s done when we quarrel,
Build the fences that keep us apart.
When we parted I felt it was over,
For the hurt from that fire I could tell,
Once we said what we did when we quarreled,
Now there is no unringing that bell.
Now I know we’ve both said we are sorry,
And I want to believe this is true,
Do we say what we mean, do we mean what we say,
For it’s not just what we say it’s what we do.
Feather in the Wind
By Dixie Jane Baker
I’m like a feather in the wind, aimless and free,
I’m like a feather in the wind, with nowhere to be.
I’m like a feather in the wind, waiting to land,
If you’re a feather in the wind, come take my hand.
Ups and downs, together, we’ll find our way.
I’m not alone and I’m glad you’re company for me,
I’m like a feather in the wind and I wait for the wind to blow,
To take me to a place brand new; you can come too, if you’re like me,
I’m like a feather in the wind, never a care or much to do,
If you’re a feather in the wind, maybe with you.
Ups and downs, together, we’ll find our way.
I’m not alone and I’m glad you’re company for me,
I’m like a feather in the wind and I wait for the wind to blow,
To take me to a place brand new; maybe with you.
Just This Side of Never
By Dixie Jane Baker
Just this side of Never, there happens to be,
A plan that is always, a you and a me,
But when you’re in Never, it’s never you get,
But this side of Never, is when we first met.
Now always forever, I’ll be with you,
Just this side of Never, starting anew,
Just this side of Never, forever be,
Now and forever lasting, lasting for me.
Just this side of Never, I finally found you,
I never imagined, that wishes came true,
Just this side of Never, dared think I would be,
Here with you forever, and you here with me.
Now always forever, I’ll be with you,
Just this side of Never, starting anew,
Just this side of Never, forever be,
Now and forever lasting, lasting for me.
Now and forever lasting, lasting for me.
Windows of Time
By Dixie Jane Baker
You can turn back the clock with the windows of time,
You can revisit yesterdays, gone.
With a picture to build on the windows of time,
It’s a yesterday that will forever live on.
Photographs of these windows of time give a view,
Bring the memories of what we held dear.
In these windows of time I find pictures of you,
And the days we spent year after year.
As I page through an album of old photographs,
There are windows of time I can see,
As I look at each picture made so long ago,
In the windows of time shown is what used to be.
Photographs of these windows of time give a view,
Bring the memories of what we held dear,
In these windows of time I find pictures of you,
And the days we spent year after year.
Windows of time, windows of time,
Memories made windows, windows of time.
Broken
By Dixie Jane Baker
Broken, a daisy pulled apart,
Does he love me, or does he love me not,
I’m broken; my heart was broken when,
On that day that you said goodbye.
Nothing, is like it used to be,
You took with you, a token part of me,
Halfhearted, now I am feeling blue,
Broken hearted, at losing you.
Broken, a guitar without strings,
Broken, like the bell that no longer rings,
I’m Broken, that day break brings the dawn,
My heart’s broken now that you’re gone.
Oh, my heart’s broken, now that you’re gone.
Count It All Joy
By Dixie Jane Baker
When your days seem at their darkest,
What’s ahead, God only knows,
When the seeds turn into harvest,
When the bud becomes the rose.
Tears we shed may water gardens,
Planted there we reap what sows,
There’ll be crops they’re meant to feed us,
And the bloom will leave the rose.
Life began like dawn brings morning,
Here on earth, a path we roam,
‘Til our maker will come to greet us,
Lift us up and take us home.
Count it joy, count it all joy,
Count it joy, count it all joy,
We don’t know what lies before us,
Count it joy, count it all joy.
Do You Ever Think of Me
By Dixie Jane Baker
It was oh, so long ago that we went out separate way
And I seldom thought of you,
But I thought of you today, do you ever think of me,
I suppose sometimes you do.
It has been so long ago, season have gone by,
Life has changed a lot I’ve found,
Then I thought of you today, do you ever think of me,
Is my memory still around?
Do you ever think of me,
Do you ever think of me,
Do you ever think of me,
I think of you.
There was a bit of floating dust in a beam of morning light,
In the window of our life,
Once was there and then was gone, passing softly to the floor,
Passing through and then no more.
Just a bit of falling dust – was it really us,
Now is nowhere to be found,
Yes, I thought of you today, do you ever think of me,
Is my memory still around.
Might Even Cry A Tear For You
By Dixie Jane Baker
Remember when, so long ago,
You were the cast, I was the show.
The curtain fell and we were through,
Might even cry, a tear for you.
We burned our bridges, right from the start.
Each on our own path, drifting apart.
We tasted anger and dined on war,
The battle’s over and now no more.
Just like the nighttime that turns to dawn,
With day upon us and darkness now has gone,
There’s nothing left now but morning dew,
Might even cry a tear for you.
Use ta Always
By Dixie Jane Baker
Use ta always, call me often,
Use ta always, open doors,
Use ta always, call me honey,
You were mine and I was yours.
Use ta always, is now never,
Now it’s always, unlike before,
When it ended, gone forever,
Use ta always became nevermore.
Use ta always, say you loved me,
Use ta always, make my day,
Use ta always, be there for me,
Use ta always, come what may.
Use ta always, is now never,
Now it’s always, unlike before,
When it ended, gone forever,
Use ta always became nevermore.
